PECO XC – Race 2 – Nostell Priory

14 December 2014

PECO XC League Race 2 at Nostell Priory saw a turnout of 9 claret and gold warriors. 6 Blokes, 2 lasses and 1 committed junior.

The weather was fine. After several days of weather-bomb coldness, the temperature was positively balmy and baselayers were removed at the last minute, or even mid-race in some cases. The setting was as pretty as a postcard, albeit a little flat. The only exception being a hidden “hill” near the Obelisk and a little mud to add interest.

The chaps did very well and managed to get 2nd team despite having only 6 of the 8 runners needed. They are currently in 3rd place in division 2, after 2 races. If we can get a full team out for the rest of the races, we stand a good chance of promotion!

The results are as follows:

Men:

Joe Baxter 2nd (1st place was a guest so he gets another 100 points in the individual standings)
Colin Walker 7th (1st V40)
Niall Bourke 55th
Ed Barber 59th
John Navis 62nd (P&B debut after a works Christmas do – top effort!)
Graham Pilling 92nd

Ladies:

Rachel Pilling 8th
Claire Green 15th

Juniors:

Natasha Robinson 13th Girl
